To Lighten Things Up a Bit

Here's a short, faux news report documenting the most recent medical diagnosis of our fearless leader that will hopefully bring a smile to your face, no matter which side of the aisle you are on :)

White House Reveals Obama Is Bipolar, Has Entered Depressive Phase

And because I didn't know what "Asperger's Syndrome" was as it relates to Joe Biden, I had to look it up. According to Wikipedia, "people with it show significant difficulties in social interaction . . . Although not required for diagnosis, physical clumsiness and atypical use of language are frequently reported." Now it makes perfect sense, maybe the Onion is on to something . . . :)

Hey Devin, great clip. It makes you really think, though, that we expect way too much of our presidents - it's not hard to imagine a president having severe downer days, especially when everything they do is hyper-criticized by one group or another.

But thanks for the laugh!

Good points, but I am not as sympathetic as you. For one, can you blame voters for 'expecting too much' when they are promised the world from political candidates? The cynical Devin wants to answer 'yes.' Time after time, we are promised so much and too often are given so little, but we are gullible, so we vote for them anyway. My point is that candidates don't do themselves any favors by writing checks with their mouths on the campaign trail that they can't cash once in office. Depressing days should be expected.

Second, and in the case of the President of the United States, I think they would all tell you that the fame, notoriety, recognition, prominence, power, money (presidential salary is over 400K/yr, not to mention book deals, speaking engagements, and advisory positions that will undoubtedly follow post-presidency), celeb status, and prestigious title all collectively outweigh the cons that come with the territory - especially for someone as narcissistic as Obama.

Devin, this was hilarious! I agree with you in terms of unfulfilled promises. Candidates rightly deserve to face the backlash of frustrated voters who soon discover that they have been lied to. However, I do think it is important for us to bear with our leaders to an extent without being unduly critical. After all, politicians, while many may be dirtbags, are only human. I just wish we had more honesty among our leaders. Perhaps their faults are merely a reflection of society as a whole. If this is the case, and I fear it is, America is in poor shape.
